A Note from Cathy:
I’ve received so many emails asking, “When’s the next Avery mystery coming?” Thanks to all of you for asking. Each email reminds me how much I’ve missed her company and that of her friends and family in Dacus, South Carolina. It’s as real as an imaginary town can be!
Many months ago, when it was time to talk about another contract with the wonderful folks at my publisher, St. Martin’s Minotaur, I decided I needed time to concentrate on a couple of other projects dear to my heart.
It was the right decision—but still a hard one to make. I like to think that Avery’s on an extended vacation, enjoying being back home but needing some time without us looking over her shoulder and wondering when she’s going to settle down with some nice fellow.
Thanks for enjoying Avery! I’ll keep you posted on her plans!
Cathy
So what are you doing with your time?
In addition to a couple of non-fiction writing projects, I am also serving on the boards of directors for two national mystery organizations: Sisters in Crime [www.sistersincrime.org] as president/elect and Mystery Writers of America [www.mysterywriters.org] as an at-large board member.
When I was asked to serve on these boards, I couldn’t say no, considering all that both SinC and MWA have meant to me as both a fan and a writer. I’m honored by the opportunity. If you are a fan, check out the benefits of SinC. If you are interested in writing mysteries, both are invaluable professional support.
Janet Rudolph, editor of Mystery Readers Journal, has asked me to serve as a columnist, writing about the real-life crime history of the locales featured in each issue. What fun to indulge in that research! For information on back issues and subscriptions, click here. [www.mysteryreaders.org]
